BLACK DIAMONDS GOLF CLUB HISTORY

In the early 1990s, several Alumni of Morgan State University along with a couple of friends, decided to start the Black Diamonds Golf Club. As a long-standing organization in the Baltimore Community, we support the work of organizations like Challengers Independent Living Inc. and The Joel Gamble Community Youth Outreach, making a positive impact on the young men and women in the greater Baltimore Community.

CHALLENGERS INDEPENDENT LIVING INC.

The mission is to provide comprehensive independent life skills training to individuals, aged 15-21 and living in foster care, in order to prepare them for a positive, self-sufficient life.

The goal of Challengers Independent Living Inc. is to:

  • prevent homelessness in young adults discharged from foster care programs

  • prevent substance abuse, crime, domestic violence and child abuse

CELEBRATING 26 YEARS OF SUCCESS

ANNUAL COLLEGE TOURS

Please reload

Challengers provides the opportunity for our transitional-aged youth to tour colleges on the east coast during spring break week.  This experience exposes them to campus-life and allows them to ask admissions-related questions in person.  We also encourage and assist our teens to apply for Maryland's Waived-Tuition Program, which is only utilized by a staggering 1% of children in the foster care system. Most of our participants are very interested in going to college, and many have graduated from & received degrees from Trinity, University of Maryland, Coppin and Towson State Universities!

IT'S A CHALLENGE NOT A PROBLEM
