The general purpose of Challengers Independent Living Program is to provide comprehensive life skills services to young adults who are preparing to exit Maryland’s Foster Care System.

 

The ideal candidate is a detailed, team player that is also effective when working independently, and has a genuine interest in the well-being of individuals who are at a disadvantage in society.
 

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Track Participant’s progress through the status of functioning program.

  • Track Participants educational progress.

  • Assign practical concrete tasks for each Participant relevant to his status of function

  • Track Participant’s progress in established treatment goals/plan.

  • Provide creative interventions to ensure achievement of Participants Educational and Independent life goals.

  • Maintain daily contact notes.

 

Weekly Responsibilities:

  • Attend Clinical Supervision meetings.

  • Update Participant’s concrete task checklist.

  • Schedule Face-to-Face contact with Participant’s to discuss ILS, Home Life and Educational progress.

  • Attend bi-weekly case planning meetings.

 

Tasks:

  • Update roster of current Participants.

  • Update Participant’s status in the Status of functioning program.

  • Continuously develop partnerships with DSS workers for referrals.

  • Submit monthly at a glance reports to supervisor.

  • Develop community relationships with professionals who can be resources for Challengers’ Participants.

  • Utilize resources at Challengers to assist Participants in achieving their goals.

  • Develop training activities to present in bi-weekly case planning meetings
